School District Now Requires Mandatory Meme Workshop in order to “Relate with the youth”

The New Providence School District has announced in a recent district-wide email that all teachers, starting next year, will be mandated to participate in a meme creation workshop. The email contained details about this workshop and had a brief description which included “learn how to create ‘memes’ in order to increase the relatability of school material with the youth”.

Many parents and school administrators welcome the new program and claim that the students really enjoy the memes and it helps them remember school material. Students claim otherwise however, citing that memes are “cringe” and “uncool” and that it’s “really embarrassing to see awful memes”. Below are some examples.

According to sources, the school administration believes that by understanding the language of memes, teachers will be able to better connect with their students and engage them in the classroom.

But not everyone is convinced that this is a good idea.

“I don’t even understand half of the memes my students show me,” said a 7th grade language arts teacher. “I just nod and smile, hoping they don’t think I’m too old. They also tell me to ‘hit the griddy’ and or something regarding those Tick Tack dances or whatever. InstaSnap I think it was called. Or maybe it was SnapTok or like TikChat I don’t remember.”

Others have expressed concern that the workshop will be a waste of time, and that there are more important things for teachers to focus on.

“I don’t see how making memes is going to help me teach science,” said an 8th grade science teacher. “I’m already struggling to keep up with the curriculum and grading papers. Now I have to worry about memes too?”

Despite the backlash, the school administration remains determined to go forward with the workshop.

“We have to keep up with the times,” said the school principal. “If we want to engage our students, we have to speak their language. And right now, that language is memes.”

The workshop is set to take place next week, and faculty members are bracing themselves for what is sure to be a hilarious, yet confusing, experience.

Meanwhile, the students at New Providence Middle School are reacting with a mix of amusement and horror at the thought of their teachers trying to make memes.

“It’s going to be so cringey,” said one 8th grader. “I can’t wait to see what they come up with.”

Others are more concerned about the potential consequences of their teachers joining the meme world.

“What if one of the teachers posts a really embarrassing meme online?” said another student. “That could be really bad for their reputation.”

Unfortunately, it seems like this concern may have already come true. According to sources, one of the teachers’ memes was posted online by a student, and it quickly went viral.

“I can’t believe my teacher’s meme is more popular than mine,” said the student who posted the meme. “I never thought they would have what it takes to make a good meme.”

It remains to be seen how this situation will play out, but one thing is certain: the faculty at New Providence Middle School will never be the same again.
