The New Hampshire primary results are most certainly interesting, with Donald Trump overtaking Nikki Haley by a projected 13%. However, there were some major surprises. There are 396 votes for DeSantis, 51 for Chris Christie, and 21 for Vivek Ramaswamy currently with 80% of the votes yet to be counted and these numbers of votes for lost causes surely to rise.
Why would someone vote for a candidate who has dropped out of the race and has absolutely zero chance of winning? We decided to head to the polls in New Hampshire and poll voters on why they voted for failed candidates.
“I really liked what DeSantis was saying about woke. He’s also really tall and has the greatest laugh and seems like overall a great guy,” said local resident Moor Ron. Other voters echoed similar sentiments. When questioned about him dropping out, Ron stated, “Oh that doesn’t bother me too much. I think it’s just a bunch of liberal propaganda to get Trump to let his guard down and when he’s not looking, DeSantis will sneak attack him and win.”
We tried explaining to Ron that he officially dropped out of the race and he’s actively given up but he said that DeSantis is an “alpha male” and would never “drop out and submit to Trump like a big sissy baby.”
Well one things for certain, DeSantis has legions of hundreds of voters behind him. Although these votes are basically being cast into the eternal abyss and will have little to no contribution to his presidential nomination status, voters will be granted a false sense of civic participation and knowledge about current politics.
